Young people don’t need more programmes designed for them they need programmes designed with them. Youth Capability works directly with young people to co-create interventions that respond to what they actually face: the pressure of growing up in financial hardship, navigating mental health challenges without adequate support, and finding pathways into education, employment, and enterprise when the system wasn’t built with them in mind. Our programmes span mental health and emotional wellbeing, financial capability and resilience, enterprise and leadership development, and creative expression as a tool for voice and agency. Every programme is built around the principle that young people are experts in their own experience. We are currently developing new work focused on children and young people experiencing poverty exploring how embedded community support, early intervention, and family-centred approaches can break the cycle before it takes hold. This includes our contribution to European research on child poverty and access to early childhood education, drawing on over a decade of frontline delivery across the UK.
Health inequality doesn’t start in hospitals it starts in the conditions people live in. Unresolved debt, insecure housing, immigration uncertainty, and social isolation are not just social problems they are health problems, and they drive the demand that overwhelms frontline NHS services. Health Equity & Wellbeing brings together our advice expertise and public health research capability to design programmes that address the social determinants of health at community level. We work with NHS systems, local authorities, and voluntary sector partners to embed practical support where people already are in GP practices, schools, children’s centres, and community spaces. Our approach is grounded in peer-reviewed evidence including published research on community health interventions and informed by the reality of delivering advice services to over 40,000 people. We don’t treat health as separate from the social and economic conditions that shape it.
